Which One Do You Actually Need?

Most calls sort into three situations. If you burn wood through a Flathead winter and it has been a year or more, you want a sweep, which includes a Level 1 inspection anyway - so you find out the condition of the flue as part of the same visit rather than paying twice.

If a property is changing hands, you want a Level 2 inspection instead. That is the standard for a sale, it puts a camera through the entire flue rather than a torch up from the firebox, and it produces a document with your name on it that survives the negotiation. Buying a valley house with an unknown chimney history and skipping this is the single most expensive shortcut we see here.

And if the dryer takes two cycles to do what it used to do in one, that is a vent problem, not a chimney one - and it is cheapest booked alongside a sweep, since the truck is already at the house and much of the same equipment does the work.
